Eorzea Survival Guide

August 17, 2010 · Posted in Final Fantasy XIV Guide · Comments Off

Below is a quick Final Fantasy XIV guide to surviving Eorzea:

*TP is gained by attacking with your two standard attack types or by being attacked and while not fighting slowly drains back to 0.

*MP is restored via items, a certain ability Disciples of Magic gain, finishing a Leve, or by touching an Aetheryte.

*Never forget about the Teleport option within your menu. You can quickly get back to any location you have visited with a full sized crystal. If you should want to cancel it, simply go into active battle mode (F).

*Always pay attention to the colored dot beside a selected enemy’s name in order to give you a clue to how your strength compares to it. Green and blue generally mean not much of a threat and yellow, red or above are very dangerous.

*Also remember that this dot represents your Final Fantasy XIV Class Rank against the enemy strength and not Physical Level (more about this is found later on).

Eorzea

*It can often be quicker to gain ranks or levels simply by heading out of the city and going on a killing spree. Leves are good for money and items, but not so much earning experience.

*Equipment has durability ratings. These are hugely high but do degrade over time and eventually will impede your abilities. These can be NPC repaired back up to 50% of your total in Limsa Lominsa or, if you have the required items, you can repair them yourself to a higher percentage than that. Generally you will not need to do this often, especially if you upgrade your equipment regularly, but pay attention to durability in your item list.

*When you die you will have a sickness which will impede your abilities to preform, it is risky to fight while this is active. The effect of this sickness lasts 3 minutes.

Final Fantasy XIV Disciplines

August 10, 2010 · Posted in Final Fantasy XIV Disciples, Final Fantasy XIV Guide · Comments Off

The latest installment of Final Fantasy brings gamers Final Fantasy XIV, the most evolved Final Fantasy game ever seen. Action, battle, magic this game has it all! The great thing about this game is that a player can switch his character’s discipline at any time simply by changing weapons. This idea of Final Fantasy XIV disciplines being changeable is a big step away from similar genre of games. Because a player can switch his FFXIV classes at anytime, players stay in the game longer, providing deeper levels of interaction and fun.

Final Fantasy XIV Disciples

Though the developers claim the story line is separate from any previous Final Fantasy games, one has to wonder as the five new races look pretty much the same as in the previous Final Fantasy game, only with slight changes in their appearances and names. Final Fantasy XIV disciplines won’t disappoint though! Because Final Fantasy XIV disciplines are changeable at will, the disciples have been limited to four major types, the disciples of War, of Magic, of Land and of Hand. Because a player can change disciplines when they change weapons, the disciplines have been further broken down by armoury categories; each discipline have several types of weapons available to it.

The disciples of War and Magic are pretty straight forward, While the Hand and Land disciplines have some surprising tools available (such as the botanist which can wield an ax). Further, character development depends on a player switching disciplines quite often, for instance the Disciples of the Hand can make magical potions (through the subcategory of alchemy) but to use such potions properly a player must switch to the disciples of Magic. These type of interconnected “bridges” are seen throughout the game. At first it would seem annoying, but really it is good, as it keeps a player from getting bored with just one type of character development.

The developers have also simplified the interface, limiting player to player interaction to text chat only. Wanting to focus on solo players the story line is much more evolved and the quests have multiple levels of complexity, each quest building on another like never before. Quest even change during the middle of a challenge, often unexpectedly adding a new type of dynamic game play. While the story line is written for the individual player, team play is still possible. Character creation has developed as well, allowing a player to not only choose their race, but clothing, accessories, hair and eye color and even moods. This feature is great because you can really take time developing your own personal avatar just the way you want it.

Over all the Final Fantasy XIV disciplines is what makes this game truly great. The range of quests and adventure you can enjoy from being able to switch character types at will is awesome. The weapons, some brutal, some quirky make the story line fun and exciting. Final Fantasy XIV will be easily be known as one of the greatest MMORPG ever made.

Final Fantasy XIV The Armoury System

August 9, 2010 · Posted in Final Fantasy XIV Guide · Comments Off

In Final Fantasy XIV, the Armoury System is how players and characters will be able to change their current class or role. This change will effect how the player plays his or her character in the coming fights ahead. Tank classes will be there to soak up damage and protect the weaker members of the party, healers will be on hand to maintain the tank’s strength as well as any other party members in need of aid or resurrection, and the damage dealing members of the party are in place to take out all enemies as quickly as possible before they can overcome the party. Groups will need to work together each managing the tasks of their specific role. In Final Fantasy 14, the Armoury System will allow players to be able to change their role as the need arises to make forming parties easier and allowing players to round out different aspects of their characters.

The Final Fantasy XIV Armoury System will allow players to change their character’s roles by equipping new armor and weapons. This new equipment will alter the skills and abilities that characters has as well as their physical appearance in the game world. More importantly the role they play in battle will also be changed, making that character more apt to a specific task they need to perform in order for their adventuring party to be successful. The Armoury System will allow players to build the strength of their characters in many different areas, but will also still let the player specialize their character if they so choose. This system should allow players to stick with a single character longer and not feel the need to create many new characters which as known as “re-rolling” in the MMORPG world. In other games some players have a problem sticking to the same class or character throughout an entire life span. Many players like to jump around and try out new Final Fantasy XIV classes and they need to create an entirely new character each time to do so. The Armoury System will allow players to try as many classes and roles as they would like, all with the same character.
