Eorzea Survival Guide

August 17, 2010 · Posted in Final Fantasy XIV Guide · Comments Off

Below is a quick Final Fantasy XIV guide to surviving Eorzea:

*TP is gained by attacking with your two standard attack types or by being attacked and while not fighting slowly drains back to 0.

*MP is restored via items, a certain ability Disciples of Magic gain, finishing a Leve, or by touching an Aetheryte.

*Never forget about the Teleport option within your menu. You can quickly get back to any location you have visited with a full sized crystal. If you should want to cancel it, simply go into active battle mode (F).

*Always pay attention to the colored dot beside a selected enemy’s name in order to give you a clue to how your strength compares to it. Green and blue generally mean not much of a threat and yellow, red or above are very dangerous.

*Also remember that this dot represents your Final Fantasy XIV Class Rank against the enemy strength and not Physical Level (more about this is found later on).

Eorzea

*It can often be quicker to gain ranks or levels simply by heading out of the city and going on a killing spree. Leves are good for money and items, but not so much earning experience.

*Equipment has durability ratings. These are hugely high but do degrade over time and eventually will impede your abilities. These can be NPC repaired back up to 50% of your total in Limsa Lominsa or, if you have the required items, you can repair them yourself to a higher percentage than that. Generally you will not need to do this often, especially if you upgrade your equipment regularly, but pay attention to durability in your item list.

*When you die you will have a sickness which will impede your abilities to preform, it is risky to fight while this is active. The effect of this sickness lasts 3 minutes.

Guildleves Guide

August 17, 2010 · Posted in Final Fantasy XIV Guide · Comments Off

Basically, a Guildleve is the ‘card’ presented upon the acceptance of a Levequest. These are the bread and butter of FFXIV, the basic treadmill quests used to obtain Gil and items.

From the Adventurer’s Guild in Limsa Lominsa you can accept various kinds of Leve to undertake. Generally these will either be to eradicate certain enemies, collection of items dropped from monsters or harvesting of certain materials.

Guildleves

Once you have a Leve and go to the point of activation you will be asked to select a difficulty based on how many people are with you (solo or party). Higher difficulties bring in higher rewards. Each Leve has a time limit and this is shown to you before accepting, along with your reward and potential bonuses.

When you are accepting new Leves you may trade in completed Leves to receive better rewards. Upon completion of a Leve an Aetherial Gate will spawn next to you. This can be used to restore HP/MP and teleport back to the acceptance point of the Leve (indicated when you accepted the Guildleve – usually Camp Bearded Rock early on for example).

Leves have rank and discipline restrictions, pay attention to these when you accept. The targets you must kill for Leves cannot be attacked by people not undertaking the Leve.

Final Fantasy XIV Disciplines

August 10, 2010 · Posted in Final Fantasy XIV Disciples, Final Fantasy XIV Guide · Comments Off

The latest installment of Final Fantasy brings gamers Final Fantasy XIV, the most evolved Final Fantasy game ever seen. Action, battle, magic this game has it all! The great thing about this game is that a player can switch his character’s discipline at any time simply by changing weapons. This idea of Final Fantasy XIV disciplines being changeable is a big step away from similar genre of games. Because a player can switch his FFXIV classes at anytime, players stay in the game longer, providing deeper levels of interaction and fun.

Final Fantasy XIV Disciples

Though the developers claim the story line is separate from any previous Final Fantasy games, one has to wonder as the five new races look pretty much the same as in the previous Final Fantasy game, only with slight changes in their appearances and names. Final Fantasy XIV disciplines won’t disappoint though! Because Final Fantasy XIV disciplines are changeable at will, the disciples have been limited to four major types, the disciples of War, of Magic, of Land and of Hand. Because a player can change disciplines when they change weapons, the disciplines have been further broken down by armoury categories; each discipline have several types of weapons available to it.

The disciples of War and Magic are pretty straight forward, While the Hand and Land disciplines have some surprising tools available (such as the botanist which can wield an ax). Further, character development depends on a player switching disciplines quite often, for instance the Disciples of the Hand can make magical potions (through the subcategory of alchemy) but to use such potions properly a player must switch to the disciples of Magic. These type of interconnected “bridges” are seen throughout the game. At first it would seem annoying, but really it is good, as it keeps a player from getting bored with just one type of character development.

The developers have also simplified the interface, limiting player to player interaction to text chat only. Wanting to focus on solo players the story line is much more evolved and the quests have multiple levels of complexity, each quest building on another like never before. Quest even change during the middle of a challenge, often unexpectedly adding a new type of dynamic game play. While the story line is written for the individual player, team play is still possible. Character creation has developed as well, allowing a player to not only choose their race, but clothing, accessories, hair and eye color and even moods. This feature is great because you can really take time developing your own personal avatar just the way you want it.

For more information about disciplines and guildleves, the FFXIVGuide.net website provides more reading.

Over all the Final Fantasy XIV disciplines is what makes this game truly great. The range of quests and adventure you can enjoy from being able to switch character types at will is awesome. The weapons, some brutal, some quirky make the story line fun and exciting. Final Fantasy XIV will be easily be known as one of the greatest MMORPG ever made.

Final Fantasy XIV The Armoury System

August 9, 2010 · Posted in Final Fantasy XIV Guide · Comments Off

In Final Fantasy XIV, the Armoury System is how players and characters will be able to change their current class or role. This change will effect how the player plays his or her character in the coming fights ahead. Tank classes will be there to soak up damage and protect the weaker members of the party, healers will be on hand to maintain the tank’s strength as well as any other party members in need of aid or resurrection, and the damage dealing members of the party are in place to take out all enemies as quickly as possible before they can overcome the party. Groups will need to work together each managing the tasks of their specific role. In Final Fantasy 14, the Armoury System will allow players to be able to change their role as the need arises to make forming parties easier and allowing players to round out different aspects of their characters.

The Final Fantasy XIV Armoury System will allow players to change their character’s roles by equipping new armor and weapons. This new equipment will alter the skills and abilities that characters has as well as their physical appearance in the game world. More importantly the role they play in battle will also be changed, making that character more apt to a specific task they need to perform in order for their adventuring party to be successful. The Armoury System will allow players to build the strength of their characters in many different areas, but will also still let the player specialize their character if they so choose. This system should allow players to stick with a single character longer and not feel the need to create many new characters which as known as “re-rolling” in the MMORPG world. In other games some players have a problem sticking to the same class or character throughout an entire life span. Many players like to jump around and try out new Final Fantasy XIV classes and they need to create an entirely new character each time to do so. The Armoury System will allow players to try as many classes and roles as they would like, all with the same character.

Final Fantasy XIV Leveling

August 4, 2010 · Posted in FFXIV Leveling Guide · Comments Off

For years it has been an affirmative tradition for the Final Fantasy game series to own a leveling system. But now starts the era of no Final Fantasy XIV Leveling. In the new Final Fantasy, it will be replaced by the absolutely reinvented character progression system. The game’s trademark is giving way for the new system so that the game can attain variety and freshness. In defiance of the common rule that most of the times, changes aren’t a good decision, in this case things are different. All is done for the good sake of the game. The game, which brought one of the most successful franchises of all time.

Yes, there were many disputes and quarrels in the forums for the subject of “the big change”. Many were predicting an overall huge disappointment from the game. They thought that its charm would be “killed”. But in the end, they shouldn’t have worried so much. The results ware brilliant. Final Fantasy is ones again the amazing wonder and excellent treat, for all those lovers of the series, like it has always been.

The lack of Final Fantasy XIV Leveling has being filled with the above mentioned character progression system. It gives you the opportunity to pay more attention to the weapons you use. The game’s motto is: “The way you play is the way you grow”. Does this sound familiar to you? Well, if you are one of those long time fans of Final Fantasy, it does. Final Fantasy IX was created with the same spirit.

Though a progression system is used, there are some secondary lever oriented elements in the beta. For instance – experience can be received through the player “Physical Level” in the form of health, hit, magic and mana points. Other basic attributes with a level system are strength and intelligence. But in the end there are no job-levels in Final Fantasy XIV.

Another treat to help you forget about the need of Final Fantasy XIV Leveling is the new and fascinating deep story involved with the game. You will have the mysterious Eorzea (mentioned in the trailer’s game) and a whole new world including well known races. There is also added a more modern touch, again for the sake of change.

The number of sells and reviews about the new game only demonstrate that the change was indeed a brilliant idea. 1, 600, 000 sold units in Japan at the end of 2009. 8, 9 or 10 out of 10 scores from critics.

Be calm “angry with the fact of no Final Fantasy XIV Leveling” fans. Every single change has been made only to help you take as much as pleasure from the game as you can ever dream of.

Final Fantasy XIV Races

August 4, 2010 · Posted in Final Fantasy XIV Disciples, Final Fantasy XIV Guide · Comments Off

The Final Fantasy XIV Races include all well- known characters from FF XI. But in the new game their looks are changed and the race’s names and backgrounds are completely different. The reason for old characters to be used is because the creators wanted to give something familiar to the fans. In Final Fantasy XIV you have much more freedom in the character development. You can choose skin, hair, eye color, and even hair style. Here is some information about the Final Fantasy XIV Races.

Elezen are nomads who ones claimed to have authority over Eorzea. They come one again to gain back their sense of honor and pride, and believe that the gods are with them in their battle. Their looks and physical state are tightly connected with the various environments which the lands are possessing. There are two kinds of Elezens: Wildwood and Duskwight.

The Lalafell were initially a group of fanners who lived in the fertile islands of the South Seas. They found their road to Eorzea through trade routes. Though they aren’t completely adaptable to the land’s climate that doesn’t stop them from being one of the most populating and established races in Eorzea. The Lalafells’ legs seem like being very weak but that is just a deceitful look because actually their legs are capable of covering long routes on any king of terrain. These creators are also quite famous of having enviable intelligence and cunning minds. Again there are two kinds of Lalafells: Plainfolk and Dunesfolk.

The Hyur are the most common race in Eorzea. They come from. They are most famous with the sophisticated technology and progress which they contributed to the culture of Eorzea. Hyurs are extremely intelligent and stand firmly behind their believes in every individual’s right of freedom. There are Midland and Highland Hyurs.

Roegadyn are sea people who came to Eorzea from the Northern Seas. They posses immense, muscular body’s and value in first place the individual’s strength and courage. There are Sea Wolves and Hellsguard Roegadyns.

Because of the Age of endless Frost a new foreign fauna appeared on Eorzea’s shores. This change brought along tribes of hunters which are nowadays known as Miqo’te. Both kinds of Miqo’te (Seekers of the Sun and Keepers of the Moon) have a strong olfaction sense and powerful leg musculature. They are less in number compared to the other races.
